The Independent Media Caucus for Development (IMCD), led by Nana Abeiku Baiden, has revealed that if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries were held today, Dr. Bryan Acheampong could force the contest into a runoff.

According to IMCD, a total of 34,736 delegates across all sixteen regions were sampled. Out of this number, 10,901 delegates (31%) pledged support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, 8,091 delegates (23%) for Dr. Bryan Acheampong, and 5,569 delegates (16%) for Kennedy Agyapong.

The survey further indicated that 390 delegates (1.1%) would vote for Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, while 128 delegates (0.3%) expressed support for Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. Meanwhile, 9,657 delegates remain undecided.

IMCD noted that with none of the candidates crossing the 50 percent threshold in the first round, the election is likely to head for a runoff.
