Kofi Bentil, lawyer and senior vice president of IMANI-Africa, has hailed Hon. Bryan Acheampong, member of parliament for Abetifi, as a major emerging force in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the party’s 2026 presidential primaries.

Speaking on TV3’s The KeyPoint Show, Bentil expressed surprise at Acheampong’s performance in the race, noting that his youth, stature, and role within the party contributed to a showing that exceeded public expectations.

“Nobody expected most significant to watch, because his showing has been quite surprising. His youth is significant. His role and his stature in the party are also very significant,” Bentil stated.

He added that Acheampong’s performance drew comparisons to other notable figures in the party. “In some aspects, I’ve compared him to somebody like Ken, but he clearly showed a better outcome than people expected. That makes him an emerging force,” Bentil said.

Highlighting the momentum Acheampong has gained, Bentil remarked, “If you ask me, right now, he has the biggest momentum, and if he manages himself well, there is no question where he’s going to end up. You put Dr Bawumia aside; Friday Chapel [Acheampong] was the one who actually won this election in terms of emerging as a political force.”
