The Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Susana Eduful, has granted bail in the sum of GH¢800,000 to a 55-year-old businessman, Francis Appeynarh, who is standing trial on charges of conspiracy and defrauding by false pretence.

Appeynarh is alleged to have defrauded a woman, Gifty Ndoma, of GH¢850,000 under the guise of purchasing 3,000 bags of maize. The incident reportedly occurred in August 2025 at Tema in the Greater Accra Region.

According to the prosecution, the accused conspired with three others — identified as Boakye (A2), Samir Kazi (A3), and Baffour (A4) — who are currently on the run.

The group is said to have lured Ms. Ndoma, a resident of Ejura in the Ashanti Region, into supplying the maize with assurances of prompt payment. However, the payment was never made after the delivery.

Court documents indicate that the four men acted together with the intent of defrauding the complainant. Appeynarh was arrested and put before the court, while efforts are ongoing to track down the alleged accomplices.

During proceedings, the trial judge granted bail with two sureties, one of whom must be justified.

The prosecutor informed the court that police are intensifying investigations to bring the absconded suspects to book.

The matter has been adjourned to September 23, 2025, when Appeynarh’s plea will be taken.
