The Accra Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Kwabena Obiri Yeboah, has granted bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with one surety to Amardeep Singh Hari, the Executive Chairman of IPMC and a prominent figure in Ghana’s business community.

He is facing charges of stealing refined gold and sensitive company documents belonging to Gold Crest Refinery Limited.

Amardeep Singh Hari appeared before the court on charges of stealing, contrary to Section 124(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). His alleged accomplice, Sannamdeep Singh Hari, is currently at large.

According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Jacob M. Kuubah, Gold Crest Refinery Limited is a registered gold trading company operating under the laws of Ghana.

The accused, who also serves as a director of the company, is said to have abused his position to unlawfully take possession of both gold and company records.

Investigations revealed that Amardeep Singh Hari and his accomplice visited the offices of Gold Crest Refinery and allegedly demanded and collected incorporation documents, licenses, books of accounts, and other vital company records.

The prosecution noted that the items were taken without explanation and without the knowledge or consent of the other directors.

Further investigations disclosed that in December 2024, the accused allegedly took possession of 23 kilograms of refined gold and an additional 2 kilograms of non-refined gold belonging to the company.

The prosecution told the court that these actions were carried out without any justification provided to the company or its directors.

The matter was formally reported to the police after attempts to retrieve the items failed. According to investigators, several invitations extended to the accused to assist with inquiries were ignored.

On August 21, 2025, the police secured arrest and search warrants from the court, leading to the arrest of Amardeep Singh Hari on August 25, 2025.

The prosecution indicated that investigations into the case are still ongoing, with efforts underway to locate the accomplice currently on the run.
