The Parliament has officially approved the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences Amendment Bill, 2025, thereby renaming the institution to University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Navrongo.
The decision comes after the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the ruling party, had vowed to reverse alterations made to the names of various public universities. According to government officials, the amendment seeks to foster inclusivity and reinforce national cohesion.
Furthermore, the renaming aims to bring the institution’s nomenclature in line with globally accepted naming conventions prevalent in higher education systems.
This change is anticipated to establish the university as a genuinely national institution, promote wider stakeholder ownership, and augment its attractiveness to students, researchers, and development partners, both domestically and internationally.
