As punishment for bedwetting, a three-year-old girl has suffered horrific burns in her private parts after her stepmother poured hot water on her.
The little girl is battling her life at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba.
The victim is said to have travelled from Swedru to Winneba to visit her father, now married to a Liberian national identified as Akaima for vacation.
According to the victim’s mother, she discovered the abuse when she went to retrieve her daughter, who had been kept in Winneba longer than expected.
She said she realised her daughter couldn’t walk properly when she went to pick her up. She indicated that after examining her, she saw the horrific injuries which the little girl allegedly said was inflicted on her by Akaima who poured hot water on her private part for wetting her bed.
Doctors at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital have confirmed that the injuries are severe and will require complex medical procedures.
The mother has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of both the stepmother and the father, who is alleged to have overlooked the act.
