Tragedy struck in Kwaman in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese district in the Central Region when a 72-year-old, Kofi Mensah, who went missing on Saturday, August 16, 2025, was found dead in a river on Sunday, 17th August 2025 in the evening.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance and subsequent death are still unclear. the body has been sent to Abura Dunkwa District Morgue in the area.
According to reports, Mr. Mensah’s body was retrieved from the river and taken to the morgue for further examination. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
This incident bears some resemblance to a past case where a 45-year-old man named Kofi George was found decomposing in River Ayensu after going missing for a week.
Similarly, two brothers, Yaw Owusu, 21, and his younger brother, Beebe, 19, drowned in a mining pit at Watereso near Datano in the Amansie South District while fishing.
The community is in shock over Mr. Mensah’s untimely death, and authorities are working to notify his family and piece together the events leading up to his demise.
