A 12-year-old boy is reported to have hanged himself at Opeikuma in the Awutu Senya Municipality of the Central Region.
According to residence the deceased, Junior Setor, suddenly went missing after he returned from school in the afternoon of Wednesday, March 23, 2022.
A search by his parent, relatives and other neighbours proved futile until he was found late in the night lying in a prone position in an uncompleted building in their compound with a torn robe around his neck and another piece of the robe still hanging.
Mother of the deceased, Joyce Setor, said she cannot tell what prompted his son who never showed any sign of worry to commit suicide.
“I woke up at dawn and went to the market, when I got to the market I called her sister to ask if they are back from school and she said yes and I asked her what about Junior and she said he went his clothes inside and he went out to play, so when I came back I searched for him but he was nowhere to be found so I thought.” She explained.
Some neighboUrs of the Setor family also expressed their disbelieve and called on the police to investigate on the matter.
“Some people were chatting as they walk pass me and they said sister Joyce’s son has hanged himself, so we rushed to the scene and realized that the information was true, we are not sure if he killed himself or he was killed by someone, we call on the police to investigate this issue.” A neighboUr appealed.
