The chiefs and residents of Ekumfi Asaafa in the Central Region have threatened to boycott the upcoming 2024 general elections over failed campaign promises by politicians.
The Omankrado for the area, Nana Eku II explained that politicians have been playing on their intelligence with campaign promises to construct roads linking to the Mankessim-Cape Coast highway but with no actions to show for it.
“How could you play on our intelligence just for your selfish interest? We find difficulties in accessing the roads in Ekumfi District and the most annoying aspect is that at times your own family members can not recognize your identity all because of the dusty roads in the area”.
Nana Eku II added that residents of Asaafa will not entertain any politician this time round.
Some elders of the area also appealed to the government to come to their aid immediately to lighten the basic social amenity challenges in the area such as poor roads network, inadequate facilities, teaching and learning materials for the basic school, and toilet facility among others.
Unit Committee Members also revealed that “although Ekumfi constituency has an MP and DCE, constituents in Asaafa do not recognize any of them,
They added that since they came to power, none of them has visited the Asaafa community for engagements”.
