The Effutu Traditional Council has led a major clean-up exercise across the Effutu municipality in preparation for the much-anticipated Aboakyer Festival.
The initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and local assembly members, saw active participation from all 18 electoral areas.
Streets were swept, drains cleared, and public spaces tidied as residents came together to ensure their town was ready to welcome both locals and tourists for the annual cultural celebration.
Mrs. Susan Martinson, Environmental Health Officer of the Effutu Municipality, commended the efforts of the volunteers and organizers, describing the exercise as a resounding success. She urged residents to continue participating in such initiatives.
“Sanitation is everyone’s responsibility,” she said. “This is not about politics—it’s about taking pride in where we live and ensuring Effutu is clean, especially as we host guests during the Aboakyer Festival.”
The clean-up not only highlights the Council’s commitment to environmental health but also reflects the communal spirit that underpins the festival itself—a celebration of heritage, identity, and shared responsibility.
