A devastating fire ravaged a section of Kasoa Ghana Flag Junction in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region, destroying approximately 10 shops, a fire tender, and a church building.
The inferno, which started around 6 p.m. on September 2, originated from a carpentry shop where a welder was working. According to reports, the welder connected the shop directly to the electricity meter, causing an electrical fault that led to the meter exploding.
The resulting fire quickly spread, engulfing a drinking spot, a carpentry shop specializing in wardrobes and furniture, a church building, an electrical appliances shop, and several provision shops.
Tragically, a fire tender from Weija that had arrived to combat the blaze caught fire itself due to overheating.
Additional fire tenders from Kasoa and Dansoman were dispatched to assist in containing the fire.
Eyewitnesses who participated in the firefighting efforts have shared their accounts with the media.
