A near-fatal accident occurred on the Mankessim-Apam highway at Ekumfi Essakyir, involving a DAF Articulator Truck (AS 3215-25) and a Hyundai Starex (AKN 620XA). Five (5) trapped persons were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals. Fortunately, there were no reported fatalities.
The Hyundai Starex was totally damaged, while the DAF Articulator Truck had partial front-side damage. The fire crew removed the Hyundai Starex and debris obstructing the road, salvaged personal belongings and handed them over to the MTTD unit of the Ghana Police Service.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. The prompt response of the fire crew and other emergency services helped prevent further harm and ensured the safety of the scene.
