The Twifo Atti-Morkwa district police command in the Central region has arrested former District Chief Executive (DCE) of Twifo Atti-Morkwa who is also the Chief of Twifo Anyinaase, Nana Nkwantabisa III, his Queen mother Nana Abenaa Amoanimaa III, Abakomahene and two other people for allegedly stealing railway tracks.
Information gathered by Republic Press indicates that, for about a month or two, residents have been complaining about the disappearance of railway tracks in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa district which serves as a transport means for some residents in the town.
According to sources, aside from individuals engaging in illegal mining popularly known as galamsey, residents have also resorted to stealing of railway tracks.
Upon several reports, the district police command led by DSP Charles Addai Boateng arrested some suspects involved in the act.
The other culprits together with the Queen mother, Nana Abenaa Amoanimaa III were arrested on site cutting the lines and explaining that some other residents have decided to cut and sell them hence, the chief also wants to cut his share and sell later.
DSP Charles Addai Boateng later invited the chief of Twifo Anyinaase, Nana Nkwantabisa III who was also arrested.
Arrested on Friday, March 17, 2023, the chief together with his accomplices were put before the Assin Foso magistrate court.
They have however been granted bail of GH₵ 50,000 with two sureties and are to reappear in court on April 18, 2023.
