A 35-year-old woman, Faustina Ackom, is in critical condition after allegedly being shot by her husband, Wahibu Bukari, during a domestic dispute at Anum in the Assin North District in the Central Region.
The incident occurred around 1:00 AM on Sunday after Bukari, 41, confronted her over suspected infidelity. Witnesses say he found unfamiliar contacts on her phone and woke her to question her.
During the heated exchange, he allegedly shot her in the left arm and breast as she tried to flee.
Neighbors rushed to her aid, and where she is currently receiving emergency treatment at St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu. Bukari fled the scene and remains at large, with residents urging police in nearby towns to remain vigilant.
The Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command has launched an investigation and visited the victim at the hospital
