Kofi Adjei, a 52-year-old palm wine tapper has met his untimely death after he was shot by a hunter at Etsi Bewora in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.
The incident happened at Etsi Bewora with the deceased and his family staying at Abeadze Kyeakor.
The suspect, Kobina Afful, has since been arrested by the Ajumako District Police Command assisting in investigations but it is not clear whether the suspect has issues with the deceased.
Information gathered indicates the deceased went to his farm around 11:00 am to prepare Akpeteshie (local gin) when the unfortunate incident happened to him.
The wife of the deceased, Maame Akua Yedua indicated that her husband left home around 10:30 am to monitor his business but heard gunshots after 30 minutes.
Maame Akua Yedua after hearing the gunshots since the farm is close to the house and then proceeded to the scene and saw her husband lying in a pool of blood.
She said the suspect shot her husband in the head leading to her demise on the spot.
Meanwhile, Assembly Member for Abeadze Kyeakor Electoral Area, Abraham Eshun, expressed shock as the deceased is a stranger who just settled in the community.
Abraham Eshun also appealed to Ghana Police Service and the government to regulate the activities of hunters because this is not the first time such an incident has happened in the area.
Furthermore, some angry residents of Abeadze Kyeakor are calling for justice else they will fight for their rights.
