Parents of some 113 students who wrote the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the Twifo Praso Model, Twifo Daamang D/A Basic School and Precious Montessori School in the Twifo Atti-morkwa district of central region are lamenting profusely that, their wards are being denied the right to benefit from the free senior high school policy.

According to the parents, the BECE results of their children have been withheld by West African Examination Council (WAEC).

The reason is that WAEC suspects examination malpractices among the said number of students during their English Literature paper hence their results have been withheld.

The spokesperson for these frustrated parents, Ebenezer Tetteh,  explained that WAEC invited all 113 candidates to Cape Coast to write their reports three weeks ago of which the DCE for Twifo Atti-morkwa district Hon Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi bussed all the children to the WAEC office but the parents have not received any feedback from WAEC since then.

This situation has left the children frustrated and threatened to commit suicide if they are not allowed to get their right to education.

According to Mr. Ebenezer, one pregnant mother suffered a miscarriage after hearing that her daughter’s result has been withheld.

He also added that the children are in a serious state of depression and cannot even go out because their mates in the other schools are ridiculing them for not going to SHS.

The students are however pleading with the examination council to release their results to enable them further their education.
