Some single parents, especially mothers whose children wrote the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa district of the central region, have threatened to invoke the wrath of rivers Pra and Akua Asieduah on the West African Examination Council (WAEC) if they do not release the results of their wards for them to go to school.
Early last month, these parents together with their children led by their spokesperson, Maame Efuah Rebecca, petitioned WAEC to speed up necessary investigations into the alleged examination malpractices by the students.
According to the mothers, their wards performed so well in the 2022 BECE with excellent aggregates like 7 and 8 but WAEC has cancelled the English paper with no tangible reason.
Meanwhile, the results for the English Language paper was withheld by the examination council as it indicated that the students provided identical answers for a particular question hence the investigations.
The aggrieved single parents have however given WAEC up to the Easter break to release the English result else they will invoke the anger of powerful river goddesses in the district on them.
Maame Efuah Rebecca, spokesperson for the aggrieved parents and children explained the frustrations that the parents want their children to also be beneficiaries of the free senior high school policy hence the reason they are sending the word of caution to WAEC.
