Armed robbers have shot and killed a police officer and injured two others in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region.
The incident occurred at Kwame Peprakrom, a town near Dunkwa, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, when the patrol team was ambushed by the gang.
A close source told Republic Press reporter Andy Frimpong Manso that the deceased officer had recently been promoted. As a result, he had stopped participating in patrols due to his new position.
Sources further revealed that Evans Addae, who was responsible for the station’s armory, decided to join the patrol team at Dunkwa Divisional Police Headquarters on Saturday, despite his usual duties. The ambush took place between midnight and 1 a.m.
The injured officers have been transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention.
