The Awutu Senya East Municipality police arrested six individuals, including five minors aged 15 and one 19-year-old identified as “Bulldog,” for allegedly raping two female students from Gada M/A Basic School.

Four of the suspects attend the same school as the victims, with two being their classmates.

The attack reportedly occurred on February 21, 2025, around 6 p.m. The victims had participated in an inter-school gala competition and were walking home with two of the suspects when a group of individuals ambushed them near a bushy roadside. The perpetrators allegedly harassed the girls before forcibly dragging them into the bushes and committing the act.

The victims initially reported the incident to their parents, who, in turn, informed school authorities. A formal complaint was lodged, leading to the arrest of two suspects on February 26, 2025. Upon interrogation, these suspects identified additional individuals involved in the crime, prompting police to detain four more suspects.

Investigators believe a total of nine individuals participated in the assault. Currently, three suspects remain at large. Law enforcement agencies have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining individuals.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of schoolchildren, especially young girls, in Kasoa and surrounding areas.

Community leaders and child protection advocates have called for stricter policies to prevent such crimes and ensure that perpetrators face the full force of the law.

Legal proceedings are expected to follow, with the Police emphasizing their commitment to ensuring justice for the victims.
