Four (4) individuals suspected to be landguards have been arrested for attacking a police officer at Kasoa Ofankor also known as Jamaica City in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

According to reports, the police officer who is stationed at the National headquarters went to check on ongoing works on a piece of land in the area believed to be owned by the police officer.

Reports further indicate that, about 30 minutes after the police officer arrived on site, some twenty individuals on motorbikes stormed the site to demand for “digging fee”.

The police officer refused to pay adding that, “there is nothing like landgaurd in the system”, which resulted in a confrontation between the police and these individuals.

The suspected landguards then seized the police officer’s AK47 rifle and began firing live bullets into his vehicle and damaging the vehicle.

Amid the chaos, the police officer managed to call the Central regional police command for help.

A team of SWAT and FPU officers arrived at the site and arrested four individuals while others fled the scene.

The incident has raised concerns among citizens who have since called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare to intervene.
