Two students of the Twifo Praso Senior High School in the Twifo Atti-morkwa district of Central region have been arrested by the police for allegedly mobilizing their colleagues to lynch a spiritualist.
According to reports, Abdul Latif, revealed and accused one of them of stealing a mobile phone, which belonged to a junior student.
Details of the incident which happened on Wednesday August 21 at about 8pm indicated that the junior student’s phone had gone missing and the students reportedly sought the intervention of the spiritualist to help them identify who stole the phone.
Abdul Latif then revealed one of the students as being the one behind the stolen phone.
This angered the student who reportedly went and mobilized his gang numbering about 10 who in turn ambushed and attacked Abdul Latif and subjected him to severe beatings until he died.
The students then dragged his body into a bush and covered it with weeds.
Police upon information from school authorities recovered the body and deposited it at the Twifo Praso Government Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
The incident sparked outrage among some youth in the community who planned to storm the school campus for revenge however a timely intervention by the police prevented further violence.
