The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, says Cabinet has approved Ghana’s new e-Visa policy as part of efforts to modernise travel procedures and boost tourism and business investment.
In a post shared on X, the Minister explained that the e-Visa regime will apply to travellers coming to Ghana for business and tourism purposes.
He said the policy is designed to position Ghana as a welcoming destination, especially at a time when some travellers may feel restricted elsewhere.
“When others make you feel unwelcome, Ghana says this is your home to invest and to enjoy the beauty of nature,” he stated.
Mr Ablakwa also referenced President John Dramani Mahama’s earlier declaration at his inauguration, that “Ghana is open for business again,” saying the new policy reinforces that vision.
He noted that with “smart policies,” Ghana is strengthening its reputation as one of Africa’s most peaceful, friendly and stable destinations, while also leveraging technology to ensure a faster and more convenient travel experience.
According to him, the system will also be supported by a robust security vetting architecture to maintain national security while improving efficiency.
He added that the reforms reflect the broader agenda of “resetting Ghana” across all sectors of governance and development.
