President John Mahama has revealed that Cabinet is awaiting a comprehensive report from the Minister of Health on the status and stage of completion of the former government’s flagship Agenda 111 hospitals project.

Speaking at the Presidential Media Encounter at Jubilee House on Wednesday, the President said the report will guide Cabinet in determining the next steps to ensure the completion of the facilities.

“Cabinet is awaiting a report from the Honourable Minister of Health on the status and stage of completion of the Agenda 111 hospitals to determine a way forward for their completion,” Mr. Mahama stated.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s health infrastructure, noting that over GH¢2 billion will be invested in healthcare between now and 2028. This includes an initial GH¢200 million allocation in the 2025 budget to accelerate the construction, expansion, and modernization of hospitals, clinics, and health centres nationwide.

“Whether in remote rural communities or high-density urban centres, our aim is the same — a health facility within reach of every Ghanaian,” he stressed.

Launched in 2021, the Agenda 111 project seeks to build district and regional hospitals across the country to improve access to healthcare. However, several facilities remain at various stages of completion.

President Mahama assured journalists that his government is determined to finish what has been started, describing healthcare delivery as a top priority for his administration.
