2022/2023 Ghana Premier League champions, Medeama SC have been paired in Group D alongside African giants, Al Ahly of Egypt, Young Africans of Tanzania and Algerian club, CR Belouizdad following the draw on Friday.
The Tarkwa based club, who are having their debut appearance in the Continent’s most prestigious inter-club competition, face a tough task and will have to perform extraordinarily well, in order to make it out of their group, taking into account their opponents, who have had rich experiences in the CAF Champions League.
Medeama booked a place in the group stage after they triumphed over Horoya AC in the playoff round, on 4-3 aggregate.
The group stage matches will begin on November 24, 2023, to March 2, 2024.
The winners will receive $4 million, while the runners-up will receive $2 million more. The semi-finalists will get $1.2 million in prize money.
Teams that get to the final eight are assured $900,000. All 16 teams have now each received $700,000 for making it to the group stage.
