Medeama Sporting Club recorded a 3-1 victory in their CAF Champions League game over Guinean side, Horoya SC at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
The Tarkwa based club had a poor start in the first 45 minutes of the game, allowing the visitors to dictate the pace of the game.
However, Horoya did not do much going forward, ending the first half in a goalless draw.
Meanwhile, after the recess, the defending champions of the betPawa Ghana Premier League took a lead 2 minutes into the start with Nana Kofi Babil getting onto the scoresheet.
With a brilliant second half display, Nurudeen Abdulai scored the second for Medeama, nodding home a corner-kick at the far post of the visitors before substitute kofi Asmah added the third with a beautiful volley in the 18-yard box seal all three points to the home side.
With just a minute to the end of the 90 minutes, the Guinean side pulled one back to end the game at 3-1.
Medeama will now travel to Guinea for the second leg of the tie, with an advantage of progressing into the group stage for the first time in the history of the club.
