Water Tanker crushes woman to death at Kasoa

A woman believed to be in her early 40s, identified as Amalia has met her untimely death this morning at Kasoa on the Kasoa-Obom road when a Water Tanker vehicle knocked her down killing her instantly at Free Town Junction.

A woman believed to be in her early 40s, identified as Amalia has met her untimely death this morning at Kasoa on the Kasoa-Obom road when a Water Tanker vehicle knocked her down killing her instantly at Free Town Junction.

An eyewitness who spoke to myrepubliconline.com said, the woman went to Kasoa New Market to buy some items and in an attempt to cross the road, she was hit by the water tanker with registration number AW 1047 – Z with her brain scattered at the accident spot.

According to the source, a motor rider had stopped and signaled her to cross the road but the Water Tanker driver failed to stop and knocked down the woman, running over her.

The driver of the tanker vehicle whose name is yet to be identified reported himself to the Kasoa Police Station having fled from the scene earlier for fear of his live.

The body of the deceased has been conveyed by the Kasoa police command to the police mortuary.

The Deputy Police Commander for Central East Command, ACP Oduro Amaning confirmed to the media that, the driver together with his vehicle is in their custody for further investigations.

He added that the family of the woman should come to the Police for the necessary arrangement for burial since the woman is a Muslim.

Moreover, ACP Oduro Amaning cautioned drivers to be careful with pedestrians when crossing roads to avoid such occurrences.

“Although motors are not permitted on our roads, they are still part of our daily activities and drivers should take time for them.” He said
