A 41-year-old man, identified as Anthony Asare has gone into hiding after receiving GHC 35,000 to produce a kitchen cabinet.
Asare runs Home Furniture GH, a carpentry shop. In October, 2025, after receiving the money from the victim, Vivian, based in the US, Asare kept postponing the timelines to produce the cabinet and eventually went into hiding.
When Crime Check contacted him to ascertain the validity of the claims by the victim, Asare retorted in Twi that “If I have spent the money, I have spent it. The police can’t do me anything even if they arrest me.”
It is reported that Asare targets individuals living abroad and absconds after receiving payments to work for them.
