The Prestea Magistrate Court has sentenced a 35-year-old carpenter, Paul Bonnah, to 24 months in prison with hard labour for defrauding a local chief.

According to court proceedings, the complainant, Nana Daniel, Chief of Kutukrom, reported that he had given Bonnah GHS 40,000 to purchase long-span roofing sheets from DBS Company.

However, Bonnah allegedly misappropriated the funds, paying only GHS 10,000 to the supplier.

Chief Inspector Raymond Lawer, the prosecutor in the case, told the court that Bonnah, a resident of Wassa Akropong in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region, failed to provide the remaining funds or the roofing materials as agreed.

Presiding Judge His Lordship Iddi Adama found Bonnah guilty of the charges and sentenced him to two years in prison with hard labor.
