MTN Mobile Money Limited has launched its Cashless Market initiative, a collaborative effort with banks, fintech companies, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and the Bank of Ghana, aimed at promoting a cashless economy through digital transactions.

Speaking at the launch, Sylvia Otuo-Acheampong, Chief Product and Services Officer of MTN Mobile Money, emphasized the company’s commitment to financial inclusion as part of its 15th anniversary celebration.

“This initiative is a key part of our commitment to fostering a cashless society and expanding access to financial services,” she said.

Otuo-Acheampong highlighted MTN’s efforts to provide a wide range of financial services, including mobile loans, insurance products in partnership with MiLife Insurance, investment options via Treasury Bills, and cross-border remittances.

“By promoting digital transactions, we aim to make financial services more accessible and convenient for Ghanaians,” she added.

The Cashless Market initiative focuses on collaboration across the financial ecosystem to demonstrate the benefits of a cashless economy, while also expanding access to loans, insurance, and investment services.

It also includes efforts to educate consumers on security and fraud prevention, with a focus on promoting the My Momo App for transactions, account management, and subscription services.

Otuo-Acheampong also announced a forthcoming ‘Refer-a-Friend’ promotion, which will reward users with free data for successful referrals.

She stressed the importance of staying vigilant against fraud, advising customers to be cautious when sharing personal information.

“We are working closely with security agencies to combat fraud, and education is key in this fight,” she noted.

The launch of the Cashless Market is part of MTN Mobile Money’s 15th-anniversary celebrations, which will feature promotions, giveaways, and cash prizes for customers.
