On June 5, 2023, at the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection (MoGCSP), the Sector Minister, Madam Lariba Zuweira Abudu, convened a meeting with representatives of Caterers of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) and the Ministry’s management.

The purpose of the meeting, among other things, was to consider practical measures to enhance the “one hot meal” provided to school children.

Additionally, it was to discuss their payment issue and address some logistical challenges they face on a regular basis.

The Minister pleaded with the executives to begin preparing meals for the pupils while assuring them that any money owed to them would be reimbursed.

She added that there would be more discussions with stakeholders to consider the suggested feeding cost of GH₵1.20 per child.

She, therefore, urged them to cook nutritious meals to improve the well-being of the pupils.

The President of the Ghana School Feeding Caterers, Madam Charlotte Ashanki Asante said they are fully satisfied with government’s willingness to release their funds.

She however argued that there should be an upward adjustment of the feeding cost per child for the year 2023.
