The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt. Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, demonstrated visionary leadership by visiting the Fire Service TV Station on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
This pioneering initiative, led by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), serves as a crucial tool in bolstering public awareness of fire safety and emergency response nationwide.
During his inaugural official tour to the GNFS Headquarters, CDS Oppong-Peprah highly commended the Chief Fire Officer, (CFO) Julius Aalebkure Kuunuor and his management team for their foresight and dedication in establishing this groundbreaking platform, recognizing its potential to significantly enhance public safety.
With great enthusiasm, CDS Oppong-Peprah urged Ghanaians to engage with the Fire Service TV channel actively, highlighting its invaluable insights on fire safety and management measures. He thus praised the Station for its pivotal role in disseminating crucial information to protect lives and properties, emphasizing the vital contribution of such initiatives in promoting public safety.
Additionally, the CDS seized the moment and called upon fellow Security Agencies to follow the GNFS’ innovative lead and adopt novel approaches to communicating essential information to the public, marking a promising step towards a safer, secure and more informed society.
He concluded his inaugural tour at the GNFS Headquarters by expressing his admiration for the impact of the Fire Service TV Station and reaffirmed his commitment that the Ghana Armed Forces will take the needed steps to emulate such strategies to effectively communicate and engage with the populace.
