The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has promoted Private Teye-Tsu Asare Solomon to the rank of Lance Corporal for his outstanding integrity.

The announcement was made during an all-ranks durbar at Burma Hall on Friday, July 11, 2025.

L/Cpl Teye-Tsu earned this recognition after he rejected a hefty bribe from illegal miners while on duty at the Bibiani Gold Mine in the Western Region.

The 30-year-old soldier, who works with the Public Relations Department of the Ghana Armed Forces, was guarding the mine when the miners attempted to bribe him for access to restricted areas.

As part of his reward, he has also been nominated to serve with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), alongside other incentives.

Commending the soldier, Lt. Gen. Agyapong called on all personnel to uphold their oath to the nation, stressing that honourable conduct must be acknowledged just as misconduct is punished.
