Chairman Wontumi, NPP executives appear before Kumasi Traditional Council

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) , Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has finally visited the Mahyia palace today, over derogatory statement against Asantehene.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has finally visited the Manhyia palace today, over derogatory statement against Asantehene.

This decision comes after Chairman Wontumi allegedly told Otumfuo’s Brempon Nana Kwaku Duah, that ”I have built my own kingdom; I have my own police and military; and I will speak my mind to Otumfuo if I disagree on an issue with him.”

His visit to the Manhyia palace is to meet the Kumasi Traditional Council to address issues that led to his derogatory comment against the Asantehene.

The meeting is currently ongoing between the Kumasi Traditional Council and National executives of the New Patriotic Party.

Some NPP executives including Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, Chieftaincy Minister Asamoah Boateng, Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, National Chairman of the NPP Stephen Ntim, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, NPP National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye, NPP National Treasurer Dr. Charles Dwamena among others are before the Kumasi Traditional Council.

The Kumasi Traditional Council, on Monday, January 22, 2024, directed the NPP, represented by General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, to produce Chairman Wontumi for a hearing.
