Ghana are out of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), following a disappointing defeat to Niger in the quarter-final stage of the competition
The Black Galaxies were very poor in the first half, despite recording 65.2% possession,
Ghana almost scored an own goal in the 6th minute after a defensive error from Augustine Agyapong but goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad was quick to react with a fine stop.
However, 4 minutes after, Niger took the lead, as Konadu Yiadom’s poor clearance led to an own goal.
Annor Walker’s team’s lack of attacking threat could not help them get the equalizer in the first 45 minutes.
Second half started with no difference for the Black Galaxies as they continued to give misplaced passes, making a lot of mistakes, which led to Niger’s second goal through Boubacar Hainikoye, who beautifully curled the ball over out place Danlad Ibrahim.
Ghana have never won the CHAN tournament, with their best performances coming in 2009 and 2014, where they finished second.
Ghana have now gone 14 years without winning the CHAN title.
