The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has revealed that the secretary to the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue, reported himself to the office on June 21, 2023.
On Tuesday, June 13, the OSP declared Charles Bissue wanted after failing to respond to calls from the Special Prosecutor to answer questions regarding the ongoing investigation into suspected corruption within the dissolved IMCIM.
Lawyers of Charles Bissue secured the order following an application for Interim Injunction restraining the Office of the Special Prosecutor or its agents from executing the arrest warrant.
The Court presided by Justice Nicholas Abodakpi also stopped the Special Prosecutor from applying for further arrest warrant pending the determination of the substantive matter and also publishing notices indicating the applicant to be wanted.
But after several weeks of hide and seek, a press release from the OSP revealed that Charles Bissue has turned himself in.
The statement also revealed that he was placed under arrest, interviewed and granted bail.
