The Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, has called for stronger collaboration between the CID and the Ghana Military Police Command to address the growing complexity of crime.
She made the call during a working visit to the Military Police Command at the Burma Camp, on Wednesday, 25th February, 2026.
COP Donkor noted that crime has evolved beyond traditional methods and now includes cyber-related and technology-driven offences. She stressed the need for continuous training in areas such as crime scene management, interviewing techniques, and digital investigations.
The Commanding Officer of the Ghana Military Police, Lt. Col. Jacqueline Dela Galley, highlighted the increasing cases of impersonation and cyber-related crimes describing it as a major emerging challenge. She also emphasised the need for clearer referral systems when handling cases involving both military personnel and civilians.
Both leaders expressed confidence that renewed engagement and structured collaboration would enhance investigations and improve law enforcement responses to evolving security threats.
