Fatawu Nambe, a native of Bawku has issued a statement to debunk claim made by Concerned Women group that a pregnant woman was allegedly murdered by two Mamprusis last Tuesday.
“My attention has been drawn to a supposed Press Release signed by one Hajia Mariama purportedly speaking for Women of Kusasis on the unfortunate death of Madam Rukaya Awudu in Daduri.” The statement noted
According to him, the press statement by the said women group is misleading and a calculated attempt at diverting the attention and focus of the security agencies in their Investigations to unravel the identities of the criminals who killed a Mamprusi man and wounded another close to the same vicinity where the late Madam Rukaya met her unfortunate death.
The Concerned Women Group, claimed the deceased whose name has been given as Rukaya Awudu is said to have been murdered when she declined to give directions to a certain David’s house to her alleged killers on Tuesday afternoon.
Addressing the media on Wednesday evening, Poanab Elizabeth Azonko, leader of the group described the incident as barbaric and called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of two persons who they claim murdered Rukaya.
Responding to claim, Fatawu Nambe said the statement released by the group should be treated with the contempt that it deserves. He said the late Madam Rukaya Awudu is married to the son of a Mamprusi woman.
The statement also stated categorically that a similar failed attempt by a group calling itself “Kussasi Youth Movement” to associate with Fatawu Nambe, a native of Bawku with such baseless allegations all of which was calculated to tarnish his hard earned reputation.
“I wish to repeat for the records that my property was a target for an arson attack and vandalism by group of Kussasis. In view of that I quickly reported the incident to the police who together with the personnel of the Ghana Fire Service brought the incident under control.” Fatawu Nambe said
Recounting the incident that left two people shot in Bawku, Fatawu Nambe said, “the armed bandits who are Kusasis had stormed the busy area in Bawku and shot two Mamprusis killing one and leaving another with gunshot injuries.”
“They proceeded to Daduri (a few meters from the spot they attacked the two Mamprusis), where they asked of the whereabouts of her husband, suspecting the woman was not willing to cooperate by assisting with the information, they killed her in order to send the message to the husband who is accused of being sympathetic to the Mamprusis.
I wish to stress for emphasis that I am a peace loving individual who would never engage in any lawless conduct to undermine the fragile peace in the area. My private business has been one of the hardest hit by the fragile peace and it is my expectations that the security situation improves for socio-economic activities to bounds back to normalcy.” He added

DISCLAIMER !!! DISCLAIMER!!! DISCLAIMER!!!
My attention has been drawn to a supposed Press Release signed by one Hajia Mariama purportedly speaking for Women of Kusasis on the unfortunate death of Madam Rukaya Awudu in Daduri.
This press release is misleading deliberately calculated at diverting the attention and focus of the security agencies in their Investigations to unravel the identities of the criminals who killed a Mamprusi man and wounded another close to the same vicinity where the late Madam Rukaya met her unfortunate death.
I recall a similar failed attempt by a group calling itself “Kussasi Youth Movement” to associate me with such baseless allegations all of which like this latest one was calculated to tarnish my hard earned reputation.
I wish to repeat for the records that my property was a target for an arson attack and vandalism by group of Kussasis. In view of that I quickly reported the incident to the police who together with the personnel of the Ghana Fire Service brought the incident under control.
At no point did I take the law into my hands to create any problems because I understood that the security was capable of restoring calm in Bawku.
It still baffles me why there is such a grand agenda by elements within the Kusasis to draw my good name into the raging chaos in Bawku.
One sure possibility is that all that the architects of these baseless allegations are seeking to archive is to deliberately divert the focus of the law enforcement agencies from apprehending the actual perpetrators of the heinous crimes in Bawku by going after innocent law abiding people.
The first attempts by these miscreants have failed so they are under the false impression that this latest baseless allegations against me can succeed as if to suggest that the security agencies are that vulnerable to such deceitful antics.
The following are the facts which are public knowledge regarding the unfortunate situation of the murder of the innocent lady on the faithful day of 28th December 2021:
