A deadly clash between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) erupted in the Offinso North Constituency over the distribution of fertilizers in Akomadan.

The incident has left one person dead and heightened political tensions in the area.

The conflict stems from a promise by Fred Gyei Asamoah, the newly-elected NPP Member of Parliament for the constituency, to distribute fertilizers to local farmers after the elections. Reports indicate that the fertilizers had been brought to the area before the polls, with plans to distribute them to constituents once election results were finalized.

On Monday, at approximately 8 a.m., a group of NDC supporters gathered at Akomadan Cocoa Shell to demand that NPP executives hand over the fertilizers. The group argued that the fertilizers were meant for all farmers in the area and should not be distributed along party lines.

The disagreement escalated into violence, resulting in the death of one person, who is believed to be an NDC supporter. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatality.

The tragic event has intensified tensions between supporters of the two major political parties in Offinso North. Community leaders and security agencies are urging calm as investigations continue.
