The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has issued a two-week ultimatum to the government, demanding the immediate implementation of a new salary structure and other conditions of service for its members, or risk a nationwide strike.

In a statement released following an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, the Association expressed growing frustration over what it described as prolonged delays and government inaction, despite multiple correspondences and signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

The statement said that pressure continues to mount on CLOGSAG from its members over the stalled implementation of agreed-upon benefits.

The Association cited two key letters dated December 20, 2024, and May 6, 2025, as formal reminders sent to government authorities regarding the issue.

As part of the resolution reached at the emergency meeting, CLOGSAG is demanding that the Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment ensure the swift and effective implementation of the unique salary structure and other agreed conditions of service.

The union has given the government until June 30, 2025, to respond positively.

“Failure to initiate implementation,” the statement warned, “the Association would have no other option than to embark on a nationwide strike.”

CLOGSAG’s leadership says it remains committed to securing fair compensation for civil and local government workers and will not hesitate to activate industrial action if their demands are not met within the stipulated timeframe.
