The Western North regional manager of Ghana Cocobod, Mr Isaac Adu has revealed to the media that the cocoa farmers’ pensions scheme will soon be implemented.
The scheme which was launched on December 2, 2020, is to provide pensions for about 1.5 million cocoa farmers.
In an interview with the media during the send-off ceremony for Mr Rex Asamoah Twum who has been transferred from Bibiani to Cocobod regional office Sefwi Wiawso as Regional Coordinator for Cocoa Disease and Pest Control, the implementation of Cocoa Management System (CMS) to help establish a credible database on Ghana’s cocoa farmers, urged cocoa farmers to register and get a cocoa card.
He further appealed to cocoa farmers not to sell their cocoa farms to illegal miners.
Meanwhile, Mr Rex Asamoah Twum the regional coordinator for Cocoa Disease and Pest Control, western North region said Cocobod has put some measures in place to control cocoa disease in the Western North region for cocoa to gain its productivity.
