The Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah, has said there was nowhere in the Emoluments Committee report that captured the First and Second ladies as Article 71 Officeholders as being speculated by a section of Ghanaians.

He said reading the report he realized that there were many falsehoods being speculated in the media and among some Ghanaians which totally differs from what the report says.

‘’The committee said that spousal allowance could not continue because it was unconstitutional and therefore gave a recommendation that their salaries should rather be included in the conditions of service, of the President and the Vice President which will conform to the law’’ he indicated.

The Member of Parliament for Akwapim South constituency said the recommendation by the committee was going to be applied to the spouses of past Heads of States and their Vice and not only the spouses of the current President and the Vice President.

He used the opportunity to appeal to the general public to seek proper clarification to ascertain the truth on issues of national concern before coming on social media platforms and other mediums to express their views.
