Leadership of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union GPRTU has resolved to increase transport fares by next week, should fuel prices as well as lubricants and spare parts remain the same.

Speaking to GBC News, the Industrial Relations Officer of GPRTU, Abass Imoro, said ”the government has blatantly ignored their plea for a fair reduction of taxes on petroleum products which has led to an astronomical increase on prices of fuel over the past months”.

The increase he noted is likely to go up by Monday, May 9, 2022 though no mention was made about the actual percentage upward adjustment in fares.
