The youth of Christian Village, a suburb of Achimota in the Greater Accra region are calling on the Ghana Police Service and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to as a matter of urgency rescue an 11-year-old girl who has been subjected to sexual abuse for years.

According to the youth, the 11-year-old has been subjected to repeated acts of sexual abuse by three men over a period of three years, causing severe physical and emotional trauma.

They added that, upon noticing the disturbing incident, a teacher who is also a neighbour took it upon herself to report the matter to the police and the Social welfare but received threats from the young girl’s family.

Despite all efforts, the young girl’s family does not appear to be actively addressing or concerned about this alarming situation, hence the need for attention and assistance in ensuring the safety and well-being of the victim.

The youth are also demanding authorities investigate the issue, apprehend the perpetrators, and make them face the law to serve as a deterrent to others in society.

“Together, we can send a clear message that, acts of violence against vulnerable children will not be tolerated in our society.  While we the youths of Christian Village acknowledge the complexities and challenges surrounding cases such as this, we cannot overlook her suffering or delay in taking action”, the group said.
