A dynamite explosion at Gomoa Budumburam, along the Accra-Winneba highway, has claimed three lives and left multiple others critically injured, including a seven-month-old baby.
The incident happened on October 14, 2024, during routine rock blasting for ongoing highway construction.
The blasting, intended to facilitate road construction, happened without prior notice to the local community, leading to significant outrage.
Eyewitnesses reported that the construction company typically issues warnings for passersby to evacuate the area prior to blasting; however, the circumstances leading to Monday afternoon’s explosion remain unclear.
This has left the community in mourning as residents grapple with the loss of life and hope for the swift recovery of those injured.
