Concerned NSS Personnel Association Ghana is appealing to the Government of Ghana to consider increasing the monthly Allowance for National Service Personnel in the country to bring some relief to the personnel who are currently serving the Nation.

It has been the public outcry about the persistent increase in goods and services and other essentials such as rent allowances that have also seen skyrocketing which have seen the living condition of service personnel unbearable as the monthly takehome is Gh¢559.04.

We humbly urge that Government should intervene as a matter of urgency to consider the plight of service personnel by increasing the monthly allowance by at least 50 percent to ease our burden

We are therefore appealing to the National Service Scheme, Controller and Accounts General Department, Finance Ministry and the President of Ghana to consider the global economic challenges and increase the NSS allowance for our personnel.

We understand that things are hard for the government and we are also not in normal times but just like the government has been able to increase the Salaries of Public Sector workers by 30%, we are hopeful that National Service Personnel in the country who are assisting the various Public institutions can also be cushioned to improve their living conditions.

Again we are also appealing to the Ministry of Finance, Controller and Accounts General Department and the National Service Scheme to speed up processes towards the payment of Monthly Allowances for National Service Personnel who commenced service on November 1, 2022, and have yet not received their allowances.

Some personnel who were posted far from their regions and hometowns to serve the nation in other regions have threatened to quit the service since their parents are unable to assist them anymore

We are also urging all National Service Personnel in the country to continue to serve the country with the knowledge and skills that we acquired from our various Universities and Institutions irrespective of the hardships we may go through to help in Nation Building.
