An Accra Circuit Court has adjourned proceedings in the high-profile Adabraka jewellery shop robbery case after the Attorney-General’s Department informed the court that it had not yet received the police docket required for legal advice.

When the case was called at Circuit Court 3, presided over by Her Honour Susana Eduful, Assistant State Attorney Lamisi Pabila told the court that internal checks at the Attorney-General’s registry confirmed that no docket had been received from the police, contrary to earlier indications that it had been submitted for advice.

Chief Inspector Ebenezer Teye Okuffo, representing the prosecution, had earlier informed the court that the docket had been forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Department. However, the Assistant State Attorney maintained that the document was still not in the department’s custody, creating a procedural setback in the case.

In light of the development, the prosecution requested an adjournment to allow the police to properly transmit the docket and complete the necessary processes for legal review.

Meanwhile, defence counsel Paul Assibi Abarigah, who represents the first four accused persons, urged the court to consider either granting bail or discharging his clients, arguing that they had remained in custody for an extended period while prosecutorial processes remained incomplete.

He further noted that the accused persons could be re-arrested should the police later be ready to proceed with the case.

After hearing submissions from both sides, Her Honour Susana Eduful granted the adjournment and directed the prosecution to ensure compliance with case management procedures, including the filing of disclosures and witness statements in line with the Practice Directions on Case Management Conferences (CMC). The matter has been adjourned to June 17, 2026.

The accused persons are standing trial over an alleged robbery at Cabest Jewellery Shop in Adabraka, Accra. They include Saum Mohammed alias Fariwata, Alhassan Iliyasu alias Arab Man, Hamza Agerego alias Nene Bawku, Abdul-Samed Bonsiabu Larry alias Tough, Fatawu Ibrahim alias Motorway, and Abubakar Sadik alias Fifty Cent, all of whom have pleaded not guilty to three counts of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.

Prosecutors allege that the accused, on July 27, 2024, attacked the jewellery shop armed with AK-47 rifles while riding on motorbikes, firing shots to scare off workers before stealing GH¢400,000 in cash and 12.5 kilograms of gold valued at GH¢14.39 million.

The prosecution further claims that intelligence-led operations between November 2025 and January 2026 led to the arrest of the suspects in Ashaiman and surrounding communities.

Subsequent searches reportedly uncovered ammunition, pump-action guns, police bulletproof vests and other items believed to be linked to the robbery.
State prosecutors also intend to rely on eyewitness identification and CCTV footage during the trial.

The accused persons were previously denied bail and remanded into custody due to the gravity of the charges and concerns raised during earlier proceedings. The case will continue on June 17, 2026.
