The hearing of the case involving the fatal shooting of Lawrencia Naa Borley Nelson, widely known as Naa GAMU, was postponed on Monday due to the absence of the trial judge.
The proceedings, scheduled to take place at the Teshie-Nungua District Court 2, have now been rescheduled for March 26, 2025.
The unexpected delay has left families of all parties involved frustrated, with many expressing disappointment over the court’s inability to proceed with the hearing as planned.
Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased have been released to her family and laid to rest in accordance with Islamic tradition.
Naa GAMU was fatally shot during her enstoolment ceremony as the Queen of the Ga-Adangme Muslim Union (Nungua West), an event that was meant to be a moment of celebration for the community. Eyewitnesses recounted how the joyful occasion took a tragic turn when gunfire erupted, striking the newly enstooled queen.
She later succumbed to her injuries, with reports suggesting that delayed medical attention may have contributed to her death. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Nungua community, raising concerns over security at traditional ceremonies and prompting calls for justice.
