Preparations for the funeral of highlife icon Daddy Lumba resumed late Friday after a morning disruption caused by an injunction secured at the Accra High Court.

The brief halt triggered concern among family members and mourners already gathered in Kumasi ahead of Saturday’s ceremony.

The injunction was lifted earlier in the day after the applicants, who argued that the musician’s immediate family had been sidelined in the planning process, failed to meet the court-ordered deadline to pay GH¢2 million into court as compensation for costs incurred during the funeral preparations.

The High Court had recalled lawyers from both sides and directed the applicants to appear before 2:00 p.m. to settle the amount.

However, their inability to do so led the judge to strike out the plea, effectively clearing the legal barrier and allowing activities at the funeral grounds to continue.

Counsel for the family head, Thomas Kwadwo Osei, welcomed the ruling, describing it as a major relief.

He said the family can now proceed with the final arrangements without further interruption.

The court’s earlier decision had triggered worry among relatives, organisers, and fans who had travelled to Kumasi for the solemn event.

With the injunction dismissed, the funeral is set to take place on Saturday as originally scheduled in Kumasi at Hero’s Park near Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
