An Accra High Court has granted bail to five individuals, including associates of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who are facing trial on charges of procurement manipulation causing financial loss to the state and misusing public office for personal gain.
The beneficiaries of the bail ruling are Emmanuel Kofi Nti (3rd accused), Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah (4th accused), Isaac Crentsil (5th accused), Evans Adusei (7th accused), and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (8th accused), represented by its directing mind.
The allegations suggest that they participated in a scheme to improperly secure procurement contracts, causing the state losses exceeding GH¢1.4 billion and an expected further payment of US$2.8 billion.
The court admitted each of them to GH¢50 million bail with two justified sureties.
Additionally, they are required to deposit all passports and travel documents with the registry and report to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) weekly.
Presiding Judge Justice Francis Aponga Achiponga granted the bail to secure the accused persons’ attendance for trial, noting that they had demonstrated through their OSP bail terms that they were not flight risks.
Due to the court’s late closure, the judge ordered that the bail terms would not take immediate effect, allowing the accused persons to go home and return on Monday, December 15, 2025, to execute the bail conditions, continuing on existing OSP bail terms until then.
The court further directed the affected accused persons to report to the OSP on Friday, December 12, at 11:00 a.m. to begin fulfilling the court’s bail requirements.
