Latifa Salifu, the woman accused of stealing a newborn at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra, has been granted bail in the sum of GH₵200,000 with two sureties.
The suspect was arrested on February 18, 2026, in connection with the alleged theft of a baby from the facility. Following her arrest, she was held by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) as investigations into the incident continued.
She was first arraigned before court on February 20, 2026, where she was remanded into custody. After fresh court proceedings on March 4, 2026, the court granted her bail. She was later seen leaving the DOVVSU premises after meeting her bail conditions.
Meanwhile, the rescued baby has been reunited with his mother after receiving medical attention at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
